Pizza and Movie Evenings

Once per month, we gather at 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening in the War Memorial Hall, to enjoy an evening of pizzas and a classic movie. Donation of $10 per person – bring your own drinks. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you are a member of the church.

Tues 4 Feb……….. “Mrs. Henderson Presents (2005)” –  A biographical film about an eccentric wealthy widow who opened the Windmill Theatre in London in 1931 – a performance hall with a difference! Comedy, drama and music starring Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins (103 mins).

Tues 7 April……. “No Reservations (2007)” – The life of a top chef changes when she becomes the guardian of her young niece. Romance/Comedy starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Abigail Breslin & Aaron Eckhart (104 mins). Cancelled

Tues 28 April …….“Beneath Hill 60 (2010)” – A tense, thrilling and true story of a group Australian miners who changed the course of WW1 on the Western Front – the extra ordinary true story of Oliver Woodward. Starring Brendan Cowell, Gyton Grantley and Aden Young (122 mins). Cancelled

Lane Cove Music

Lane Cove Music grew out of St Andrews Uniting Church, Longueville, and is now operating as a music club affiliated with Federated Music Clubs of Australia ( www.fmca.org.au ), but is still strongly supported by the St Andrews UC Longueville membership. Lane Cove Music holds six concerts each year, in the St Andrews LCM Anglican church, Rosenthal Ave., Lane Cove (behind the Lane Cove Post Office), on Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm-9:30pm. Admission is $70 per person annual subscription ($50 for Pensioner receiving benefits), or $25 per person for each individual concert. Tickets can be purchased at the door (cash only). Light supper at  interval included in the ticket price.

Tuesday 17 March –  “You Are My Heart’s Delight” with soprano Alison Claire Robinson, and tenor/pianist Glenn Amer. Waltzing in Vienna with Johann Strauss, Franz Lehur, Imre Kalman to the hits of the day from Die Fledermaus, The Gypsy Baron, The Merry Widow, The Land odf Smiles, and more. All the joy of the romantic era. Cancelled

Tuesday 5 May –  The Eucalypt Trio: clarinettist Rachel Thompson, flautist Naomi Robinson, & bassoonist Brighdie Chambers, who met during their studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, will present a concert of classical and romantic music. Cancelled

Tuesday 23 June –  Andrew Rumsey and Friends will present an engaging night of “joie de vivre” with an exciting repertoire – Andrew on piano, James Lawson on cello, and Ciaran Edwards-McKeown on guitar.

Tuesday 11 August –   “From Bach into the Future”. Once local and now world renowned violinist Madelaine Easton and pianist will explore some of the greatest repertoire form where it all started with Bach, then into the future with Brahms to Bartok and beyond.

Tuesday 13 October – Annual Alf & Pearl Pollard Memorial Awards for Performance Excellence, held in association with Sydney Eisteddfod. Features ten of the most outstanding solo instrumentalists between ages 12 and 15, selected from the 2020 Sydney Eisteddfod. Award recipients will be decided by an audience vote. Note that this concert begins at 7pm.

Tuesday 24 November – Cantorion Sydney Male Voice Choir with Musical Director/Tenor soloist, Ben Oxley. Repertoire includes classical, folk, ballads and Christmas music.

Adult Exercise Classes

We host ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ who run two gentle exercise programs weekly during school terms.

The Gentle Exercise- Slow Pace program, is ideal for those new to exercise or getting back into it. Offering a range of exercises to improve fitness, muscle tone, coordination and balance. If you’d like to improve your wellbeing, have some fun and meet new people come and join our friendly group in a beautiful and spacious environment.

Monday 10:00am to 11:00am. $110.00 or $88.00 (concession) per term. Temporarily cancelled.

The Gentle Tai Chi program allows you to exercise your mind and body i a safe & gentle way, to improve overall strength, balance and coordination.

Monday 11:00am to 11:55am. $77:00 or $62:00 (concession) per term. Free trial session. Temporarily cancelled.

Aqualuna Choir

We host the Aqualuna Choir, who rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7:30pm – 9:30pm during school terms, in our War Memorial Hall.

Aqualuna is a fun community-based choir that sings a diverse repertoire ranging from Gospel. African, World and Pop to Classical Music. Their emphasis is on having fun while improving their sound and musical knowledge along the way.

The choir is always looking for new male and female members of all voice types to expand the choir.No experience is necessary, and they do not audition. People are welcome to come along and join the choir for a ‘free taste-tester session’.
