Pizza and Movie Evenings

Once per month, we gather at 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening in the War Memorial Hall, to enjoy an evening of pizzas and a classic movie. Donation of $10 per person – bring your own drinks. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you are a member of the church.

Tues 6 Apr……….. “Beneath Hill 60 (M) –  The extraordinary true story of an Australian, Oliver Woodward, in France during WW1. Starring Brendan Cowell, Gyton Grantley and Aden Young.

Tues 4 May……. “Victoria & Abdul” – The true story of an unexpected friendship in the latter years of Queen Victoria’s reign. Starring Judi Dench and Ali Fazal.

Tues 1 Jun……….. “No Reservations (2008)” – Romantic comedy drama about a hard working chef whose life changes when she adopts her young niece following the tragic death of her sister. Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones & Aaron Eckart (100 mins).

Tues 6 Jul…………. “Downton Abbey (2019)” – Historical drama set in 1927 following the story-line from the series with many of the original cast. Starring Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, & Elizabeth McGovern (115 mins).

Tues 3 Aug……….. “Breathe (2017)” – Biographical drama telling the story of Robin Cavendish and his battle with polio, starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy (118 mins).

Tues 7 Sept………. “Woman in Gold (2015)” – Biographical drama – the story of the decade long fight to reclaim an iconic family portrait stolen by the Nazis in Vienna just prior to WWII. Starring Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds & Katie Holmes (109 mins).

Tues 5 Oct………….“My Brilliant Career (1979)” – The beautiful adaption of Miles Franklin’s classic novel set in 1897 in rural Australia, with Judy Davis as Sybilla in her first leading role. Also starring Sam Neill and Wendy Hughes (100 mins).

Tues 2  Nov………..“Red Dog – True Blue (2016)” – An iconic Australian story of family and friendship. Starring Jason Isaacs, Levi Miller, Bryan Brown and 3yr old kelpie ‘Phoenix’ (88 mins).

Tues 7 Dec………….“It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)” – American Christmas fantasy drama ranked as one of the best 100 American films ever made. Stars James Stewart, donna Reed, and Lionel Barrymore (131 mins).

Lane Cove Music

Lane Cove Music grew out of St Andrews Uniting Church, Longueville, and is now operating as a music club affiliated with Federated Music Clubs of Australia ( www.fmca.org.au ), but is still strongly supported by the St Andrews UC Longueville membership. Lane Cove Music holds six concerts each year, in the St Andrews LCM Anglican church, Rosenthal Ave., Lane Cove (behind the Lane Cove Post Office), on Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm-9:30pm. Admission in this ‘shortened 2021 concert season’ is $60 per person annual subscription ($40 for Pensioner receiving benefits), or $25 per person for each individual concert. Tickets can be purchased via ‘try booking.com’ on our website www.lanecovemusic.org.au, from June 1 onwards.

Tuesday 22 June –  Features brilliant clarinetist, Mark Walton OAM, his accompanist and two of his students.

Tuesday 10 August – Join Andrew Ramsey (piano) and Thomas Azoury (clarinet) for another night of musical delights and humorous anecdotes.

 Tuesday 12 October – Annual Alf & Pearl Pollard Memorial Awards for Performance Excellence, held in association with Sydney Eisteddfod. Features ten of the most outstanding solo instrumentalists between ages 12 and 15, selected from the 2021 Sydney Eisteddfod. Award recipients will be decided by an audience vote. Note that this concert begins at 7pm.

Tuesday 30 November – Cantorion Sydney Male Choir, a 35 strong male voice choir in the Welsh tradition with a delightful repertoire of classical, sacred and Christmas music with supporting artists.

Adult Exercise Classes

We host ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ who run two gentle exercise programs weekly during school terms.

The Gentle Exercise- Slow Pace program, is ideal for those new to exercise or getting back into it. Offering a range of exercises to improve fitness, muscle tone, coordination and balance. If you’d like to improve your wellbeing, have some fun and meet new people come and join our friendly group in a beautiful and spacious environment.

The Gentle Tai Chi program allows you to exercise your mind and body i a safe & gentle way, to improve overall strength, balance and coordination.
